NELSON COUNTY, Ky. (FOX 56) — Almost a week after a guilty verdict was read in the first of two trials concerning the disappearance of Crystal Rogers, the man convicted has moved for acquittal or a new trial.

On the fourth day of the trial, the jury found Steven Lawson guilty of conspiracy to commit murder and tampering with physical evidence. The jury recommended a concurrent 17-year sentence, and final sentencing was scheduled for 3 p.m. on Aug. 6.

Lawson was one of three people accused in the Bardstown mother’s presumed death. Rogers was last seen on July 3, 2015, and her mother reported her missing two days later after her vehicle was found at mile marker 14 on the Bluegrass Parkway. She has since been presumed dead, but her body has yet to be found.
