LEXINGTON, Ky. (ABC36 NEWS NOW) — Lexington’s 9-1-1 emergency system is currently down due to an issue with the service provider, according to city officials.
Residents experiencing an emergency are urged to call 3-1-1 or text 9-1-1 until further notice.
Officials say calls to 9-1-1 are not connecting to operators. Instead, callers will hear ringing followed by a disconnection. However, dispatchers are able to see the calls coming in and will attempt to return them using a separate phone system.
The city says this situation is ongoing and updates will be provided as conditions change.
