MOORHEAD — Farmers market season has started in the metro, with the first vendors setting up shop in Moorhead’s Viking Ship Park.

On Tuesday afternoon, June 2, the opening day of the market, around a dozen booths lined the edge of the parking lot outside the Hjemkomst Center. Vendors sold wares like soaps, wooden signs, spice mixes, baked goods and produce. Families with children bounced from booth to booth, while a musician sang on a small stage.

Steve French, events specialist for Moorhead Parks and Recreation, watched from the market’s information booth. A recent hire, French is organizing the market for the first time this season. He hopes to support the small businesses selling at the market.
