AKRON, Ohio (WOIO) - Akron Police collected dozens of shell casings after East Akron neighborhood wakes up to gunfire.

According to a release from Akron Police, officers responded to the area of 7th Avenue and Fuller Street for reports of shots fired around 12:39 a.m.

Officers found a 37-year-old woman in the 400 block of Fuller Avenue who reported that a bullet struck her door.

Another 38-year-old woman in the 1400 block of Minson Way also reported that a round entered her home.

Witnesses told police that four to five people fired guns.

According to the release, when officers canvassed the neighborhood, they collected dozens of shell casings.

The incident remains under investigation.
