LEXINGTON, Ky. (FOX 56) — City leaders announced on Thursday afternoon that Lexington's 9-1-1 system is down.
Mayor Linda Gorton's office told FOX 56 News that a provider issue is causing the outage.
How to contact emergency services
City leaders said in a news release on Thursday that even though residents who call 9-1-1 will just hear a ring before being cut off, emergency dispatch operators can see the calls coming in and will try to call the person back through a separate phone system.
Lexington residents were also encouraged to call 3-1-1 or text 9-1-1 during an emergency while the phone line is down.
More information about the status of Lexington's 9-1-1 system will be released as it becomes available.
