ENDWELL, N.Y. (WIVT/WBGH) - The Maine-Endwell Spartans softball team is returning to the state tournament following winning their third straight sectional title in Class A.
They topped Chenango Valley in the title game, which was played over two days due to rain, 14-11. The team enters the postseason sitting at 12-5, which is not unfamiliar territory, having won states four times before, in 2023 and then from 2016 to 2018.
"We definitely work on technique the most, but we will adjust on like, maybe they're pitching or, where they hit, and like, just make little minor techniques," said Emily Bealla.
Last season they fell to Marlboro in the first round of regionals, 5-2, but this season their back and their hungry, with a newer and younger team set for action.
