CHARLOTTE, N.C. (WBTV) - A man accused of blowing up his home near a Charlotte park last month has been returned to North Carolina, weeks after he was arrested in Chicago.

The the morning of May 2 on Lombardy Circle near Freedom Park in Charlotte’s Dilworth neighborhood.

By the time firefighters got to the house, they said it was “fully involved” in flames. Smoke and fire was said to have been visible at least a mile away from the home.

Not long after the flames were put out, investigators determined that the explosion and ensuing fire was intentionally set.

In addition to the house that exploded, two others were damaged and two people sustained minor injuries. Nobody was inside the house that exploded. The Charlotte Fire Department said the explosion caused an estimated $445,000 in
