The Montana State women’s long relay team was one spot out of nationals, and then it wasn’t thanks to a disqualification at the NCAA West First Rounds that concluded last weekend in College Station, Texas.
The quartet of Olivia Lewis, Peyton Garrison, Guilia Gandolfi and Caroline Hawkes finished 13th in 3 minutes, 34.31 seconds — the second fastest time in school history — and for a time one spot out of qualifying for the NCAA Outdoor Championships in Eugene, Oregon June 11-14.
The MSU relay will be joined by junior Hailey Coley, who qualified in the long jump last Thursday. Two Bobcat men qualified for Eugene: Harvey Cramb in the 1,500 meters and Rob McManus in the 3,000-meter steeplechase.
