GLENNS FERRY, Idaho (KMVT/KSVT) — Children can get up to two meals a day at school, but it’s a challenge for kids to receive meals during the summer, especially in rural areas.
“We have a school up in Oakley that’s 20-30 minutes away from here and its hard from them to get down here,” said, Child Nutrition Director for Cassia County School District, Angela Rodriquez.
The Cassia County School District decided for this year’s summer meals program, they’d do a bulk distribution of food to help children in rural areas of Idaho.
“They get it one day out of the week, and they have 10 meals-- five breakfasts and five lunches. We have hit 200 people so far with this bulk distribution,” said Rodriquez.
