REDDING, Calif. - Highway 172 will be fully closed starting Monday, June 9 as crew from Caltrans and J.F. Shea Construction Inc perform restoration work along the highway.
Officials say that the full closure is for emergency restoration efforts following the damage caused by the Park Fire in 2024. The closure will begin at Mt. Lassen Avenue in Mineral and continue to 5.5 miles east of the junction with Highway 36 in the area of Mill Creek Resort.
According to Caltrans District 2, access to Mill Creek will remain open via the eastern junction with Highway 36, east of Morgan Summit.
Caltrans says that Highway 172 is expected to reopen by the end of September.
