The Citrus Bowl has been a significant fixture in the college football landscape for over 75 years, establishing a rich history and tradition.

As it prepares to commemorate its remarkable 80th anniversary, there are countless reasons to acknowledge the positive influence it has had on both the sport itself and the vibrant Central Florida community.

To celebrate the milestone, Florida Citrus Sports plans a year-long celebration culminating in the Cheez-It Citrus Bowl , scheduled to take place on Wednesday, Dec. 31 at 3 p.m., airing on ABC.

It’s the second straight season in which the game has taken place on New Year’s Eve after the College Football Playoff moved to the 12-game format. Last season, No. 21 Illinois pulled off a 21-17 upset of No. 14 South Carolina.
