LAUREL, Miss. (WDAM) - A teenager has died after a shooting left him hospitalized for four days in Laurel.

The shooting happened on Saturday, May 24, around 10:00 a.m. on Marion Drive in Laurel.

The victim, now identified as 17-year-old Jamal Pruitt, was taken to South Central Regional Medical Center in a personal vehicle, then later transferred to Forrest General Hospital.

Pruitt died on May 28, four days after the shooting.

Eric Drummond Jr., 21, was arrested the same day as the shooting. He was charged with aggravated assault, with his bond set at $225,000.

He is on hold in jail at this time, per Laurel Police Chief Tommy Cox.

Cox also said that hearings are pending on a separate felony charge.
