SIBLEY, Iowa (KTIV) - A northwest Iowa man is facing theft charges after failing to complete a project for an Osceola County business.

Thirty-four-year-old Joshua Griffin of Everly, Iowa, was taken into custody after an investigation into an incident on Wednesday, Jan. 3, 2024, took place in Hartley, Iowa.

Court documents reveal Griffin was given a check for $33,8800 to purchase garage doors for a business. About $27,800 was reportedly to be used to prepay for the purchase of the garage doors.

Authorities say Griffin told the shop’s owner he needed the full amount of the cost of the doors before they could be ordered. Documents show Griffin cashed the check and stopped working to install the garage doors in the following month.
