WHITE EARTH, N.D. (KMOT) — For more than 60 years, the White Earth Valley Saddle Club has been roping in fans to its annual rodeo celebration.

They will host the event this weekend.

Club President Doug Feiring said there are a few things that make this event special and bring in big crowds.

One of them is the scoop shovel race. It involves someone riding a shovel that’s being pulled by a horse and is unique to White Earth.

“Carrying the tradition on, starting back almost 70 years ago, the ranching and western way of life and culture,” said Feiring.

The weekend kicks off Friday with a rodeo queen pageant. The rodeos are on Saturday and Sunday.
