A man accused of murder may have deliberately injured himself in an attempt to prove he acted in self-defence following a 'frenzied stabbing attack', jurors have been told.

Kevin Draper, 55, handed himself in to police following the death of Jack O'Brien, 28, in Leigh on December 4, 2024. It came following an incident the day before at the defendant's home, Manchester Crown Court heard as a murder trial got underway. Mr Draper, of Siddow Common, Leigh, denies the charge.

The court heard he showed officers an injury to his right wrist, claiming it was caused by Mr O'Brien. CCTV footage from an off-licence the defendant earlier visited showed there was no injury at that point, jurors were told.
