The NFL world waited a long time for Aaron Rodgers to make a decision about whether and where he might play in 2025.
That wait came to an end on Thursday, June 6, when the Steelers announced that they had agreed to terms on a one-year contract with Rodgers, pending a physical.
On Saturday, June 7, Rodgers passed his physical and officially signed the contract, according to NFL Network's Ian Rapoport.
The Steelers will be Rodgers' third organization of his 21 NFL seasons, but it will mark the third different team for which he has played over the last four seasons. Pittsburgh is coming off a second consecutive 10-7 season but is seeking its first playoff win since 2016.
How did the Steelers make out in their signing of Rodgers? Here's what to know about his contract with the team.
Aaron Rodgers contract details
Rodgers inked a one-year deal worth $13.65 million with the Steelers, according to ESPN's Adam Schefter. The contract comes with $10 million guaranteed and can reach a maximum value of $19.5 million.
Pittsburgh included $5.85 million in potential playing time and performance incentives, which Rodgers can hit if he remains healthy and effective.
The final number will end up being less if he can't hit those incentives, giving the Steelers a low-risk, high-reward starting quarterback for 2025.
Rodgers had previously commented in an appearance on "The Pat McAfee Show" that he was not motivated by money.
"I told every single one of the teams I talked to, it ain't about the money," Rodgers said in April. "I'll play for [$10 million], I don't care. I never once said I need a multi-year deal, $30-40 million, that's absolute b-------. I'd play for 10 [million]."
