Indiana educational leaders unveiled the first draft of a new school accountability model that'll once again use a "A-F" grading system to measure schools' performances across the state.

However, Indiana Department of Education officials emphasized during a presentation at Wednesday's state Board of Education meeting that the new methodology would also take into consideration the "uniqueness of every student."

"This model no longer evaluates schools based on how well all of the students do on a single assessment, rather it shifts and evaluates schools on their ability to help individual students be on track for post-secondary success," said Ron Sandlin, IDOE's chief innovation officer.
