LOS ANGELES – A man who allegedly pointed a rifle at people and cars in the Harvard Heights area of Los Angeles was shot and wounded by police Thursday after aiming at them.

This is the second shooting of an armed man to occur this week by Los Angeles Police Department officers.

Officers responded about 9:20 a.m. Thursday to Washington Boulevard and Western Avenue to a report of a man with a gun, according to Los Angeles police officer Tony Im.

Officers encountered a roughly 30-year-old man with a firearm, prompting the shooting.

According to KCAL9, the suspect had been pointing the gun at people in cars, including at a McDonald’s restaurant, and even aimed at an LAPD helicopter when it arrived.
