Angelina Petra Resendiz, a 21-year-old Navy sailor from Texas, has gone missing, prompting a desperate search by her family and authorities. Virginia State Police issued a “critically missing adult alert” for Resendiz on June 3, after she was last seen at her barracks in Norfolk on May 29.
According to police, Resendiz was last spotted at Miller Hall at Naval Station Norfolk around 10 a.m. local time. Her mother, Esmerelda Castle, expressed her concern, stating, “She’s spent no money, made no calls. She just stopped. She disappeared.” Resendiz is described as a 5-foot-tall white/Hispanic woman with brown eyes and black hair, weighing approximately 110 pounds.
Castle, who resides in Texas where Resendiz grew up, shared that her daughter, affectionately known as “Angie,” is a culinary specialist in the Navy. She emphasized that Resendiz maintained regular communication with family and friends, often speaking to them daily. “Her and my sister have a 400-day streak on Snapchat,” Castle noted.
The alarm was raised when friends and family stopped hearing from Resendiz, and she missed work. Castle reached out to the Navy after her attempts to contact her daughter were unsuccessful. “She just stopped existing Thursday,” Castle explained. “She’s spent no money, made no calls. She just stopped. She disappeared.”
Virginia State Police indicated that Resendiz’s disappearance poses a credible threat to her health and safety. Castle stated that her daughter would not leave work without permission, saying, “Angie’s too scared to miss work; she wouldn’t do that.” In her determination to find her daughter, Castle plans to travel to Virginia herself.
Family members described Resendiz as a fun and kind individual. “This isn’t like Angie. I just want to find her,” Castle said. Authorities are urging anyone with information about Resendiz’s whereabouts to contact the Naval Criminal Investigative Service at (877) 579-3648. Castle also mentioned that her daughter does not drive, adding to the urgency of the search.
