MERCER COUNTY, WV (WVNS) -- A Virginia woman was charged after reportedly embezzling funds in Mercer County.

According to a criminal complaint, 31-year-old Lakeshia Nelson, of North Tazewell, Virginia, was charged with embezzlement after reportedly embezzling money from a local business.

The criminal complaint stated that a member of the Bluefield City Police Department received a complaint on June 6, 2024 about fraud. The owner of the Econo Lodge allegedly reported that Nelson was embezzling money, and that she would gather cash from guests and use other guests' credit cards to balance the portfolio.

According to the complaint, Nelson would allegedly ask guests to pay her by sending money to her cash app account and not leaving evidence that the guest stayed at the hotel. One alleged i
