SEDRO-WOOLLEY, Wash. — A Skagit County center that provides workforce training and education for young adults will avoid closure after a judge intervened.
Cascades Job Corps Center in Sedro-Woolley is one of the centers that will resume operations after Wednesday’s court ruling.
Judge Andrew L. Carter in the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of New York issued a temporary restraining order against federal program cuts after the National Job Corps Association sued the Department of Labor.
The association sued on Tuesday after the Trump administration announced the end of the program May 29, closing 119 centers and impacting 60,000 students nationwide.
Regular classes at Cascades Jobs Corps will resume Monday, and students will not be discharged, according to Center Directo
