OKLAHOMA CITY — For Hawks guard Trae Young, the Oklahoma City Thunder’s run to the NBA Finals comes with some conflicting feelings.

A fan of the team while growing up in Norman, Oklahoma, Young is rooting for them as a hometown kid seeing the local franchise reach the pinnacle of an NBA season. But it mostly provides motivation to bring a championship to Atlanta.

“It’s even more motivating for me,” Young told The Atlanta Journal-Constitution on Wednesday ahead of Game 1. “I want to win a championship bad. But the fact that it’s in my city and I’m just watching it now, if you thought I wanted it bad before, it’s even worse now.”

Young may be pulling for the Thunder to win the finals, but he won’t be among the revelers in the crowd at the parade if they do.
