LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WAVE) - On Thursday, AARP hosted its yearly Summer Scam Jam event to arm local seniors with the tools they need to fight back against fraud. It’s an issue that’s getting worse, with billions of dollars lost every year to scammers.

“All of us need to work together about what’s really happening in this city and across this nation,” said Gerina Whethers, the Commonwealth Attorney in Jefferson County.

It can happen to anyone and in a number of different ways. Doug and Debbie Oskins attended the event to learn more about how to protect themselves, especially after Debbie was contacted by a scammer, who she thankfully sniffed out before any money was lost.
