DULUTH, Minn. (Northern News Now) - Some students from Duluth will make their way to the nation’s capital to make their mark at the National History Day Contest .

On April 7, local students competed in Minnesota’s State History Day in the Twin Cities.

Nearly 2,000 students competed in the competition. Of those, 59 were named winners and qualified to represent Minnesota on the national level, which included students from Duluth.

Duluth East students Analise George, Anja Erickson, Lyla Ronkainen, and Margaret Johnson all qualified to move on to nationals.

Anja Erickson said that learning more about history helped her grow and become involved in the world around her.
