ABILENE, Texas (KTAB/KRBC) - Code compliance found a homeless camp at a dilapidated Abilene business last year.

The camp was found at a business on the 3300 block of S 1st Street in November when the City went to serve a "code compliance warrant" at the business due to lack of maintenance to the building.

City officials cleared out the homeless camp in November 2024 and boarded up the building, but the homeless returned by February and moved inside.

In a meeting this week, Board of Building Standards members gave the business owner 30 days to submit a plan to either work on restoring the building or demolish it. The building will be ordered to demolition if no plan is submitted.
