Woman accused of killing husband found dead on top of her to undergo psychiatric exam

GREEN OAK TWP., MI — A woman accused of fatally stabbing a man who was found dead on top of her will undergo a psychiatric examination.

Rachel Marie Jones, 50, is set to appear in court June 24 for a competency hearing, which will determine whether she can understand the court proceedings and assist in her defense. Jones is charged with open murder for allegedly stabbing 49-year-old Robert Riter, who lived with her on Shady Brook Court in Woodland Ridge mobile home park near South Lyon.

Defendants are assumed to be competent unless a psychiatric examination shows otherwise.
