Manitoba's Independent Investigation Unit is looking into the case of a man seriously injured by a police dog during an arrest in Dauphin.
The man was injured after 3 a.m. CT Tuesday, the police watchdog said in a news release Thursday afternoon.
RCMP responded a report about a man in a mental health crisis at a hotel on Main Street S. near Riverside Road in Dauphin, a city about 240 kilometres northwest of Winnipeg, the IIU said.
The man had already left when officers arrived at the building, the news release said.
