Two Morganton men were charged Thursday in connection to a Sunday shooting in Catawba County. Eleven people were injured in the shooting and one was killed.

Izaiah Kane Mitchell, 18, of Morganton, and Zachary Micheal Bates, 22, of Morganton, were each charged with one count of attempted first-degree murder on Thursday, the Catawba County Sheriff’s Office said in a news release.

A total of five people are charged directly with the shooting as of 4 p.m. on Thursday. Three of the five men are still at large and considered armed and dangerous.

The charges stem from a mass shooting that happened at a party along Walnut Acres Drive on Sunday in the Mountain View area.
