PEORIA ( 25News Now ) - A Peoria man was booked into the Peoria County Jail Thursday after detectives discovered he groomed and planned to meet a child for sex.
The suspect, 56-year-old James L. Parker, was taken into custody without incident Thursday. He faces two charges, one for indecent solicitation of a child and another for grooming.
Detectives launched an investigation on May 1, when they suspected Parker of chatting with a child online, with plans to meet the child for sex. They reviewed more than 60 pages of messages between Parker and the child.
Police searched Parker’s home and found several pieces of evidence connected to the crime.
Parker is also the subject of interest in similar out-of-state investigations involving minors, police said.
