DALLAS — Plans for a new practice facility for the WNBA's Dallas Wings took a step forward Thursday after some Dallas City Council members had called for a pause on the plans for it earlier this week.

The Dallas Park and Recreation Board on Thursday approved allowing part of Joey Georgusis Park at 1200 N. Cockrell Hill Road in Far West Oak Cliff to be used for the proposed new practice facility for the Wings.

"It's always a great day when we get to stand in support of women's professional sports and especially the Dallas Wings," Dallas City Council member Omar Narvaez said at a Thursday press conference. "I'm excited to see momentum building around a facility that will reflect their excellence and commitment to our city."
