BOROUGHWIDE — ASSEMBLYMEMBER RODNEYSE BICHOTTE HERMELYN (D- Flatbush, Little Haiti) on Thursday criticized the Trump administration’s travel ban prohibiting citizens of a dozen countries, including Haiti, from entering the U.S., and in addition, placing restrictions on seven other countries.

“While the Administration cites national security as its justification, the scope and pattern of this ban raise deeper concerns—echoing past discriminatory policies disguised as protective measures,” Bichotte Hermelyn —the daughter of Haitian immigrants and the first Haitian American woman elected in New York City — said in a release.

She urged the administration to reconsider the ban, calling it a “divisive and damaging” policy.
