COLUMBUS, Ohio — Two people were found dead inside a Knox County home after a male subject allegedly exchanged gunfire with deputies, leading to a standoff early Thursday morning.

Deputies with the Knox County Sheriff's Office were called to the home in the 10100 block of Busenburg Road in Howard around 1:20 a.m. for an “open 911 call,” the sheriff’s office said.

Upon arrival, deputies encountered a female, identified as Lauretta Beltz-Frazee, who claimed to have been injured by Lloyd Ray.

According to the sheriff’s office, the situation escalated quickly resulting in Ray and a deputy exchanging gunfire. Ray then reportedly released an unknown type of chemical which caused deputies to evacuate the area.
