WATERBURY, Conn. (WTNH) — A Waterbury man was sentenced Thursday to nearly 2.5 years in prison for his role in a drug trafficking ring, according to the Department of Justice.

In Nov. 2023, undercover police officers made two controlled purchases of crack cocaine from 39-year-old Jose Delrosario-Canela, also known as "Domi," from a suspected drug trafficking organization in the area of Maple Avenue in Waterbury.

The investigation included court-authorized wiretaps on multiple phones, GPS tracking of vehicles and numerous controlled purchases of narcotics. The investigation revealed that two drug trafficking organizations — one on Maple Avenue and one on William Street — were distributing cocaine, crack and fentanyl through a network of sellers.
