The Nevada State Police is investigating a rollover crash involving a Washoe County Sheriff's Office vehicle in Sparks on the night of Wednesday, June 4.

According to the preliminary investigation, at about 8:41 p.m., a marked sheriff’s vehicle was heading south on Pyramid Highway and entered the intersection while the southbound light was red. A Chevrolet Traverse was traveling west through the intersection on a green light when the vehicles struck each other.

The sheriff’s vehicle overturned and came to rest in Eagle Canyon. The other SUV remained in the intersection.

The deputy did not have emergency lights or sirens activated, NSP said.

Both drivers were taken to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries, state police said.
