SAVANNAH Ga. (WSAV)-- As summer season begins, the Chatham County Emergency 911 Center said they are prepared for the influx of calls.
Center officials told WSAV that they expect a 4-5% increase of calls due to summer and the potential for bad weather. The influx is something they prepare for daily, according to Director Diane Pinckney.
Pinckney said that the Chatham County Emergency 911 Center is 90% staffed but will continue to hire more. She said they also have a backup dispatch center to help with the busy phone lines.
"We are beefing up our staffing right now and we do that on the regular day to day, Pinckney said. "We have to make sure that every seat is filled in, and we also have our backup center prepared."
