GAINESVILLE, Fla. (WCJB) - The city of Gainesville’s Regional Transit System (RTS) is set to implement route and service changes following the finalization of a new contract with the University of Florida.
The university is reducing funding for the city bus service as the shift to other transportation services.
Officials plan to reallocate some of the resources towards campus transit options such as the Campus Connector shuttle service.
“The City of Gainesville is proud of the quality and reach of our transit system,” said City Manager Cynthia W. Curry. “To mitigate the impact of these reductions, RTS is continuing to actively seek federal and state grant opportunities, as well as innovative collaborations with local partners, to support future operations.”
