HOUSTON, Texas (KTRK) -- Three people were hospitalized Thursday afternoon after a crash involving two vehicles in which multiple power poles were knocked down in the city's southwest side, according to police.

According to Lt. Lary Crowson with the Houston Police Department, the crash happened at about 2 p.m. in the 9300 block of Fondren Road.

A white F-150 pickup and a Honda were traveling southbound on Fondren. Police said the Honda was traveling at a high rate of speed and tried to avoid another car that pulled off a side street, but hit the pickup. Both vehicles flipped over several times, with the Honda hitting two power poles and then a tree.
