DICKINSON, N.D. (KFYR) - The Stark County Spirit of Excellence Award recognizes people who have changed their communities for the better. On the evening of May 4, five Dickinson first responders received it .

Dave, Sue, Cori, DJ and Jason Wallace have collectively served more than 100 years as first responders in Stark County. From becoming an integral part of the Dickinson Area Ambulance Service to serving in law enforcement, the Wallaces have touched so many people’s lives.

Kelsey Heidecker has worked with the family for years. She was the one who nominated them.

“Just the way that they help and serve our community is incredible,” Heidecker said.

Heidecker wasn’t the only one to speak at the ceremony. Some, like Misty Marx, worked with Dave and Sue.
