BAKERSFIELD, Calif. (KGET) -- A woman with prior strike convictions faces up to 25 years to life in prison after being found guilty of setting fire to a seafood restaurant on Union Avenue, prosecutors said.
A jury on Wednesday convicted Alicia Iona Thornton, 35, on two felony counts -- arson and possession of materials for arson -- for setting fire to the front door of Crab in a Bag restaurant.
Sentencing is set for July 10.
"A fire can rapidly spread, endangering lives and property in a short amount of time if swift action isn't taken," District Attorney Cynthia Zimmer said in a release. "As a prior strike offender, Thornton has demonstrated to be a public safety risk, and with this conviction, will secure an elevated prison sentence."
