MADISON COUNTY, Ky. (WKYT) - Earlier this year, the Kentucky Department of Correction removed nearly four dozen women from an addiction recovery center in Madison County.

Officials said they were investigating allegations of mistreatment.

A month later, they renewed their contract with the facility. Yet many questions remain.

Kentucky River Foothills Development Council owns Liberty Place Recovery Center for Women in Richmond.

They’ve been around since 2008.

The 108-bed facility reserves 55 of their beds for Dept. of Corrections referrals.

In mid-February, 46 women were removed from the center and relocated, according to a spokesperson with DOC.

Officials cite an ongoing internal investigation.
