GALESBURG, Ill. (KWQC) - The Knox County Sheriff’s Office says a disturbance escalated into a riot Wednesday at the Mary Davis Home Juvenile Detention Center.

The sheriff’s office said four staff members and five juveniles were injured in the incident.

Officials said around 7:35 p.m., a group of juveniles became combative and the situation escalated quickly.

Facility staff and local law enforcement responded. Officials said four staff members had non-life-threatening injuries while attempting to regain control of the situation.

Officials said five juveniles were also injured during the riot. All individuals were treated on scene and, if necessary, were taken to an area hospital. The sheriff’s office said four staff members and five juveniles were injured in the incident.
