ANSONIA, Conn. (WTNH) — A pre-k teacher in Ansonia is under arrest Thursday and off the job for allegedly hurting a little boy so badly that he needed to have surgery twice.
Even seasoned investigators say this one is tough to hear. A three-year old boy who is non-verbal and autistic was allegedly hurt by his own teacher, 32-year old Mary Durso-Smith is suffering a broken arm and more.
Police say it happened at the Mead School in March, at a time when kids are supposed to be having fun during recess.
"The injuries were pretty bad,” Ansonia Police Lt. Patrick Lynch said. “Arm broken and an elbow dislocated, required two surgeries. There was video of the incident."
Authorities say the tale of the tape shows this was no accident.
