SPRINGFIELD, Mo. (KY3) - Johnny Morris and Bass Pro Shops donated 40,000 fishing rods and reels to kids nationwide.

And 400 of those fishing rods will stay in the Ozarks for kids at the Good Samaritan Boys Ranch and KAST, or Kids Are Special Too. Customers first donate the gently used gear in the spring. Bass Pro then refurbishes the gear. Bass Pro has donated 500,000 rods and reels in the last ten years.

“It’s amazing, because we take these reels and we make a lot of smiles with them,” said Mike Webb of KAST. “As you can tell, there are a lot of smiles right here in these reels. And with Bass Pro doing the rod and reel exchange every year, we know that we are always going to have something for the kids.”
