TWIN FALLS, Idaho (KMVT/KSVT) —It’s been a shaky week in the Stanley area so far, as earthquakes have plagued the region in recent days.

Idaho is ranked fifth in the nation for earthquake risk according to the Idaho Geological Survey, so it is not uncommon for the Gem State to see this seismic activity.

The previous big earthquake was back in 2020, when a 6.5 magnitude quake shook the Stanley area.

The largest earthquake in recorded state history was back in 1983. The Borah Peak earthquake raised the tallest mountain in the state by a foot.

However, these recent earthquakes are not too concerning according to geologists.

“So we can’t rule out that it’s possibly, you know, some preliminary activity for a larger event, but that’s probably the less likely scenario here,” said Shawn Wills
