If you missed Paczki Day, you're in luck: Friday is National Donut Day, and Region bakeries are ready, including one up-and-coming site you do-nut want to miss.
"I love that there are so many different types of donuts," said Bella Cogley, who runs the DonutNV food truck in Schererville. "Chocolate, sugary, cinnamon. I'd go for cookies and cream and strawberry shortcake."
Donut Day actually started in nearby Chicago in 1938 as a fundraiser for the Salvation Army during the Great Depression. It was a tribute to the Doughnut Lassies of World War I who served soldiers.
