AMARILLO, Texas (KFDA) - After an Amarillo veteran’s custom built hand cycle was stolen, the community along with law enforcement worked to get it back.

Joe Chris Rodriguez has spent countless hours training on his custom made hand cycle, but his bike was stolen from him.

The Air Force veteran and founder of One Chair At a Time , spent last Saturday competing in 24 Hours in the Canyon. After returning to the Canyon for day two, he noticed his cycle had been stolen from his truck in his driveway.

“I was going to get ready to do the parade start, and put in miles, and I opened the tailgate and the hand cycle was gone along with my little para ladder,” said Rodriguez.

Emotions were running high due to the sentimental value of what was taken from him.
