Justice Cenceria Edwards will conclude her term as president of the Brooklyn Women’s Bar Association on June 4, closing a year of transformative leadership rooted in service, mentorship and resilience.
Her successor, longtime board member Lisa Michael, will be sworn in during a ceremony at the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of New York in Downtown Brooklyn. Attorney Karlyne Fequiere will serve as president-elect.
Justice Edwards, who presides in Kings County Supreme Court , Civil Term, did not seek out the presidency. She was encouraged into the role in June 2024 by Justice Sylvia Hinds-Radix and her oncologist, both hoping it would provide her with purpose at a time of personal challenge.
