MINOT, N.D. (KMOT) – Gov. Kelly Armstrong, R-N.D., appointed a Minot-area attorney to fill the vacancy on the bench left by the retiring Judge Douglas Mattson .
The Governor announced on Thursday his selection of Steven Lautt to the open judgeship in the North Central District. The district covers Ward, Mountrail and Burke Counties.
Lautt has practiced law as an attorney and shareholder with Pringle & Herigstad since 2012, and handled a wide variety of cases.
He’s a Minot native who studied law in Kansas.
Lautt was one of three finalists for the position.
His judgeship is effective Aug. 4.
