BILLINGS, Mont. - The Amber Alert system in Montana plays a vital role in child abduction cases, providing crucial assistance in life-threatening situations. This system is not meant for runaways, missing children, or custody disputes.

Brian Frost, the Amber Alert Coordinator for the Montana Department of Justice, explained the criteria needed to initiate an Amber Alert. He stated, "So, we look for as we look for a missing child who is 17 years or younger, that's been abducted or has disappeared under some sort of suspicious circumstances. But really, what we're looking for is the abduction standpoint for an Amber Alert.
