SPOKANE — Washington State University is worried President Trump's current spending bill, supported by Representative Michael Baumgartner, could negatively impact students and enrollment.

The bill proposes caps on graduate student loans and the elimination of subsidized loans, along with changes to the Pell Grant program.
WSU officials said they are concerned about potential enrollment declines, especially at the Spokane campus.
“It takes away the risk from the federal government and puts it back initially, onto the specific institution,” said Glynda Becker-Fenter, Vice President of External Affairs at WSU.
